Gourmet food truck fever is sweeping the urban foodie scene in full force and San Francisco is on its cutting edge.  Off the Grid, a weekly event at the city’s Fort Mason Center parking lot is the perfect example of a roving dining experience of epicurean proportions. Off the Grid’s tasty line-up features innovative cuisines served to the hungry public by over 30 adventurous vendors from places close to home and around the world. Conveniently clustered in one big wagon train, Friday night dinner out just got interesting.

A mobilized approach to excellent cooking paves the way for enthusiastic and talented food artisans to gain exposure to new customers in an open, energetic environment.  Similar outdoor eateries are cropping up in neighborhoods all over the country, replacing some traditional fast food meals – it’s a testament to the exploding interest in fresh, healthy, organic and innovative meals with a slow-food edginess.  Good “food news†travels fast – the buzz created by diners could potentially launch a brilliant career.

Off the Grid organizers came up with an inspired happening that combines food with a community-building concept. Meet old friends or make new ones – it’s about connecting with each other in the best way possible…while eating really yummy fare. Off the Grid is off the chain!
**Note: Bring cash and your ski jacket because, even on warmer days, sunset brings the wind off the bay making evenings chilly. It’s also recommended that you get there early to avoid long lines, keeping in mind that seating fills-up fast too.
